Bifrost Coven History

Bifrost Coven got its start back in 1985 shortly after Ken got his 3rd degree while with the Coven ClannadeLuigri. Ken partnered with a 3rd degree HPS named Penny to create the initial coven with the daughter of Penny as the third member. Bifrost was a Long Island Line Gardnerian Coven that had a mix of Celtic, Mithraic and mostly Germanic influences for the overall theme. The coven soon had an outer Court of four individuals who were interested in becoming Gardnerian. Over the course of the next two years, the four individuals gained Gardnerian initiation and the coven flourished. Penny and Ken Split shortly into the third year with Zoe (as a second-degree Gardnerian and Mithraic initiate as well) taking over as HPS. For the next several years, Bifrost worked quietly with a few cousins from other covens, making spot appearances in local California festivals.

In 2012, Bifrost moved to the South and kept a very low profile due to now being in America’s ‘Bible Belt’. As our knowledge of the area grew and we discovered more and more Pagan activities, we gradually opened and restarted our Outer Court here in Memphis with 2 individuals. They both ended up getting initiated a year later and we have operated a Wicca 101 year-long course for several years now all the while becoming more and more active in a growing pagan community here in Memphis.

Today, Bifrost is living the covens name and works at least half the time in a Germanic-themed aspect of the Long Island Line Gardnerian Tradition with a now growing and elevating core of nine individual Gardnerian Priests and Priestesses and an active Outer Court of 3 more individuals. We perform rituals at events, are guests of other groups, and work with a pair of pagan-based churches in the area.
